The satirical musings of a sociopath

It took hella-long to travel by bus from Paris to the Swiss Alps. You should have seen the look of amazement on the faces of my tour mates when they encountered snow for the first time in their lives. Snow angels and snowball fights ensued.

When we finally arrived and I saw my hotel room, I almost missed my comparatively gorgeous hotel room from Paris.

No withstanding the shitty hotel, I was super excited to go skiing as I hadn’t gone skiing in several years and there was a ton of fresh powder on the ground. I expected optimal conditions. Low and behold, too much snow had fallen and apparently there was an avalanche risk, which caused the slopes to close. Bummer.

I ended up joining the group for a tour of the mountains, that included a 30 minute lift ride to the top of the mountain. We got the chance to explore an ice cave and go snow tubing down a bunny slope. I was nonplussed by the whole thing, but at least I had the chance to enjoy my new electric jacket. Kept me nice and toasty.

My highlights from the Swiss Alps included a really nice meal that I had with some of my tour mates at an Indian restaurant, a hot moscow mule and the nicest and most gourmet rest stop ever. Was totally floored by the quality of food and the level of effort exhibited by its staffers. I know that most people wouldn’t care, but it went far from unnoticed by me. The ginger-lemon tea was fresh and exceptional.

Overall: Had a nice time, enjoyed the quaint town, but would have been happier to get some skiing in.

Off to Florence!
